Barbara first public reference to her post when she attended a fundraiser in September for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the organization that led the court case to overturn Prop. 8 in California. The co-chair of the event was former chairman of the Republican National Committee Ken Mehlman, who came as gay in August and said he would fight for marriage equality.
